- All indoor office and garage employees are to relocate to a SAFE AREA immediately. The Maintenance Parts Room is designated as the SAFE AREA = area away from windows in interior hallways, away from exterior walls
- From indoors, close all windows and blinds.
- Remain in SAFE AREA until the WARNING expires.
Procedure for DRIVERS on-the-road:
Contact DISPATCH 800-249-0664 IMMEDIATELY when the following severe weather conditions are encountered:
- Fog
- Heavy Rains
- Heavy Snow Accumulation
- High Winds
- Ice Rain
- Poor Visibility (due to any conditions above)
- Severe Thunderstorms
- Tornados
Conditions will be assessed and instruction will be issued whether to continue your trip.
- When in doubt, proceed to the next safe area to park until conditions improve.
- Never attempt to out-drive a windstorm. Tornadoes and hurricanes change direction suddenly. Get out of the vehicle and seek shelter in a bulding, ditch, or ravine.
- In foggy conditions, stay on the right-side of the road and turn on low-beam lights. If you cannot see the edge of the road, it may be safest to pull off the road until visibility improves. Pull to the far right and turn on hazard lights.
- In hail or lightning conditions, stop the vehicle at the side of the road and turn on hazard lights. Close all windows and do not touch any metal objects.
Failure to follow this procedure may result in disciplinary action, including possible termination of employment.
The KBD office is staffed Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm. After hours, ALWAYS call (800) 249-0664. The answering service will page DISPATCH.
