Safety & Security Procedures

KBD Terminal & Yard

  • Use your security code to enter through security gate;
  • Notify Dispatch immediately (24/7) if gates do not close behind you OR if you notice any foul play in the yard;
  • Premises are also monitoried by video surveillance.

Mississauga Yard

  • Security guard, night patrol, and video surveillance used to guard yard;
  • Use pin locks and other security devices to secure loads;
  • Notify guard and Dispatch of any foul play.

Accident Procedure

  • Notify office immediately of accident;
  • A drug and/or alcohol test will be required if there is a fatality or a tow-away when driver is pulling a U.S. load;
  • Document everything by meticulously completing the Accident Report in Permit book - be sure to get names and numbers of witnesses as well as an Accident Report number from the attending Officer;
  • Take pictures of
    • damage to KBD vehicle;
    • damage or lack thereof to other vehicle;
    • license plate of other vehicle;
    • licensing/authority info from door of other vehicle;
    • picture of other driver for identification and to show level of mobility at time of accident;
  • Submit report and pictures/disposable camera as soon as possible to Cindy.

Safety En Route

  • Never leave truck unlocked (even when fueling);
  • No Passenger Policy;
  • Never carry your wallet outside of the truck in the U.S.;
  • Park truck and load in well-lit areas only;
  • Before re-entering truck, perform 7-point safety inspection;
  • Never detach truck from loaded trailer without a pin-lock.
