MISSISSAUGA YARD - DIXIE 401
We rent 5 spaces - if you're not sure of their location, please ask Dispatch. Trailers dropped in other renter's locations cost us additional rent.
Snow will be removed from the yard but only a limited amount of salt will be put down. Carry salt / kitty litter when picking up trailers from the Mississauga yard, just in case.
ontario SPEED LIMITER LAW TAKES EFFECT January 1, 2009
The province of Ontario has officially adopted regulations requiring trucks manufactured after 1995 with a GVWR of 11,794 kg (26,000 lb) or more and equipped with an electronic controlled engine to have a speed limiter set to no more than 105 km/hr (65 mph).
KBD company drivers will have their speed limiter adjusted in-house. Owner-operators will be required to provide proof of the adjustment.
The requirement applies to drivers operating commercial vehicles on Ontario highways, including drivers entering Ontario from the U.S and from other Canadian jurisdictions.
Notice to Drivers with Computers
Thanks to driver Peter Kaldeway, an easy solution to monitor your hours-of-service is now available: WEEKLY RECAP - EXCEL Spreadsheet Program
Obtain your copy from Randy or Bryan.
C-TPAT SECURITY
After completing our annual security validation for C-TPAT, emphasis is placed on the following:
- It is important that all drivers sign the driver log at the driver entrance each and every time they come into the office;
- It is important that drivers monitor and report to DISPATCH anything unusual about a shipper, load, trailer, seal, etc. DISPATCH will then notify US Customs Border & Protection (CBP).
- Any broken seals or seals that appear to have been tampered with while en route must be reported to DISPATCH immediately, once again, so that CBP can be notified.
- Drivers are responsible for thoroughly checking empty trailers before loading for false panels or anything suspicious before allowing the trailer to be loaded.
IdleAire
Drivers are encouraged to use the IdleAire services throughout the U.S. Not only is it a cost savings vs the fuel cost of idling but many U.S. states have implemented significant fines for idling more than 5 minutes.
The IdleAire service will provide you with air conditioning, television, and computer. If you do not currently have an Idleaire card but would like one, please contact Cindy at the office.
NO PASSENGER POLICY
KBD has a NO PASSENGER POLICY. For the safety of all involved, drivers are asked not to take their family with them in their trucks. Please keep your family safe and drive alone!
KBD NOT COVERED BY SMOKE FREE ONTARIO ACT
Federally-regulated carriers (those whose trucks leave Ontario to operate in other jurisdictions) are NOT subject to the "Smoke Free Ontario Act." Therefore, KBD drivers CANNOT be fined for smoking in the cab of the truck.
KBD does enforce a NO SMOKING rule within the KBD building -- this includes the garage!
Employees will be permitted to smoke on KBD premises outdoors, provided they use containers to put out their cigarettes.
