Loaded Trailer Policy
LOADED TRAILER NOT EN ROUTE:
- Loaded trailers are to be stored at KBD's secure yard in either Iroquois or Mississauga.
- Drivers are not permitted to store loaded trailers at their house or any other unsecured location.
- Drivers must first obtain permission from DISPATCH before storing their trailer in a secure yard other than the KBD yard in Iroquois or Mississauga.
- When the loaded value exceeds $40,000, drivers must notify DISPATCH and arrangements will be made to store the trailer in the KBD building within the secured yard.
LOADED TRAILER EN ROUTE:
- The trailer must remained hooked to the tractor while en route from shipper to receiver. Should extenuating circumstances require an unhooking (such as an unscheduled equipment repair), DISPATCH must be contacted to approve a secure trailer drop location.
- Drivers must contact DISPATCH twice daily to update their location and verify security.
LOADED TRAILER STOPPED EN ROUTE:
- Door locks are to remain intact until driver exits the cab.
- Driver to apply steering wheel lock before exiting the cab.
- Driver to remove keys from ignition upon existing the cab.
- Driver to install gladhand lock to trailer.
- Driver must return to tractor AND trailer hourly to inspect security.
- Driver must inspect security of tractor AND trailer before resuming freight movement.
