Bomb Threat Procedure
Employee Procedure:
If you receive a bomb-threat call, remain as calm as possible and proceed as follows:
- Record the time of the call.
- Keep the caller talking.
- Record your perception of the following:
- sex of the caller;
- approximate age of caller;
- origin of call (phone booth, long distance, etc.) or phone number if displayed;
- caller's voice level & tone and any unique qualities;
- any background noises;
- Motion / e-mail someone else to call 911 immediately.
- Engage the caller in conversation. Record caller's exact words while talking. Ask the following questions:
- When is the device going to explode? How much time is remaining?
- What is the location of the device?
- What type of device?
- Chemical
- Biological
- Explosive
- What does it look like?
- How do you de-activate the device?
- Where are you now?
- Caller's name & address?
